Main body

• No sound comes out.

  There is several possible reasons. Please check the followings.

  • Sound volume of Windows® operating system is set small.
  • Headphones is not connected correctly.
  • Missing 3-D sound processing preparation (in this case, it will be improved by restariting the application).
  • At Windows® Vista, the icon is registered in the Start Menu, and started from the menu (in this case, it will be improved by starting from the execution file of the application).
  • Items inside of WR-AOTS-209 folder was removed (in this case, it will be improved by returning them).

• It takes long time to start sounds.

  If it is the first time for the application to run since the Windows® operating system started, it may takes at longest two minutes to start sounds after Run button is pushed. This is because the application needs to prepare the 3-D sound processing at the first time, and it is not bug. You can start quickly in the second time and after. We are now trying to improve the starting time. When we can find the solution, you will be informed the guidance of update.

• Noise breaks out during running.

  If the DirectX® or ASIO® is selected as audio output, noise occures and disturbs audio output. Using MME is recommended. On the other hand, in Windows® XP / Vista, the sound will be interrapted if you use MME. Thus, using Windows® 7 / 8 / 8.1 is recommomended.

• Sounds can not be heard as 3-D sounds.

  The Wall now can reflect only ambient sounds coming from distant places. For the Sounds in the training field, they can be insulated, but not reflected by Walls. We will try to improve this.

  On the other hand, if the trainee hardly perform the obstacle sense (cannot feel oppressive feeling), please try Sound Field for Obstacle Perception Training for basic training.

  The reflected sound of footstep or cane tapping sound are not reproduced. We will try to improve this.

• Wii® Remote Plus Controller™ does not work.

  Please make sure that your Wii® Remote Plus Controller™ is the 3rd generation. When you connect the 3rd generation to Bluetooth, you can see its name Nintendo RVL-CNT-01-TR on the display. If other name (e.g. Nintendo RVL-CNT-01) is displayed, it is the 2nd and before generation. WR-AOTS™ 2.09 cannot use the 2nd and before generation. It also must be noted that, if you connect via the built-in Bluetooth in PC, you cannot use in almost cases even if it can be connected. Please use the recommended Bluetooth adapter.

• Unstable movement of the trainee in the training field occurs when Wii® Remote Plus Controller™ is used.

  Output of acceleration sensor in Wii® Remote Plus Controller™ includes large error, and it cannot be used for measuring movement of the trainee's walk yet. We are now trying to improve the software. When we can find the solution, you will be informed the guidance of update.

  Some peripheral device is connected to COM Port, the device is sometimes mistakenly regarded as GPS. Please remove the device or uncheck the GPS checkbox.

  If you push Quit button in running or just after pushing Stop button, application software sometimes cannot quit normally. If you want to stop application, please push Quit button after several seconds from pushing Stop button.

  The software contains many technologies developed by RIEC and many research institutes with huge amount of research funds. They agreed to distribute the software free of charge in the condition that this is used for the blind people. If the source code is opened, we are afraid that their technologies may be extracted from the software and may be used for other purposes. Thus the source code cannot be opened.

  Wide-Range Auditory Orientation Training System is a sound simulator of orientation and mobility environment for beginners. It is just like a driving simulator in a driving school, and not for complete O&M training. Combination with training in real environment is required.
