Manifest on diversity in science

The Global Gender Gap Report 2024 (World Economic Forum) ranked Japan  as the 118th of 146 nations, which is the worst since the Report started in 2006.  This tendency unfortunately appears similar in higher education and science & technology fields.

This often appears visual when we are invited to speak in academic conferences, in official meetings held by the government or other public organizations.

As a small resistance, I would ask the following to be satisfied when you invite me to speak or attend a meeting:

    1. To invite me to
      • Invited speech, symposium, panel or
      • Board, committee or any type of meetings including governmental ones,
    2. When there are others with same or higher role/capacity than me invited, they include
      • At least one female,
      • At least one younger (40s or less) person.
    3. When these are not satisfied, let me hear why it’s difficult. Please pardon if I could not accept the explanation.
