I received a B.S. degree in human physiology at the University of Oregon and an M.A. and Ph.D. degree in exercise physiology at the University of Texas at Austin. I had postdoctoral training in cerebrovascular physiology at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, USA. My research focuses on the effects of lifestyle modifications, particularly exercise, on brain and cardiovascular functions under normal and pathological conditions, with the ultimate goal to extend a healthy lifespan and improve the quality of life in older adults. I use state-of-the-art MRI technology combined with traditional physiological measurements such as ultrasound imaging (e.g., TCD) to understand the role of exercise in neurovascular function.
