I am Takahiko (Taka) Uchide, an earthquake seismologist. I aim to understand the physical mechanisms of earthquake generation from the stress loading on and around faults to the dynamic rupture evolution. My approach so far is the data analysis (including deep learning) using seismograms and earthquake catalogs to capture the reality of seismic processes. I am trying to extract information inferred from data as much as possible, and as robust as possible.

For those who are interested in collaborations, technical consulting (for companies), or being hosted as a postdoc, a research assistant (for graduate students), or a technical trainee (for graduate and undergraduate students), please find more details here.

Short Bio

Taka earned his Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo, Japan. After postdoctoral researcher positions at University of California, San Diego, USA, and Kyoto University, Japan, he worked as a Researcher, Senior Researcher, and Chief Senior Researcher at Geological Survey of Japan, AIST, and Planning Officer at Research Strategy Planning Department, AIST. Currently he is serving as a Group Leader at Geological Survey of Japan, AIST. In the Seismological Society of Japan (SSJ), he served as a Board Member, Chief Editor of the Editorial Board of the Newsletter, and Chair of the Seismology Summer School 2020. He was awarded Young Scientist Award of the Seismological Society of Japan in 2014.
