環境工学・環境微生物学・微生物動態解析。迅速かつ簡便な環境微生物の動態解析技術の開発、複合微生物相(マイクロバイオーム)の解析、環境中の難培養性微生物の機能解析、難培養性微生物の分離・培養、メタゲノム解析、微生物の培養技術の開発などの研究を進めている。
