The symposium is open to the public and supported by the cross-ministerial strategic innovation promotion program (SIP) of the Cabinet Office - Government of Japan. The SIP-IMASM is a team under Structural Materials for Innovation (SM4I) operated by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The SM4I focuses on aircrafts and power stations. The sessions include keynote talks, invited talks, and annual reports of the SIP-IMASM team that consists of AIST, NIMS, University of Tsukuba, KEK, and University of Tokyo. The SIP-IMASM team is also ranked as one of the projects under Tsukuba Innovation Arena.
