Toru KUMAGAI joined Industrial Products Research Institute in 1991. He had been a researcher of NIBH since 1993. He was a planning officer of AIST planning office in 2001 and  a senior research scientist of Institute for Human Science and biomedical Engineering of AIST since 2002 to 2010. He had been a senior research scientist of Human Technology Research Institute of AIST since 2010. He has been a senior researcher of Digital Architechture Research Institute of AIST since 2022. His primary areas of interest are modeling of human behavior. He received his BE and ME in Mechanical Control Engineering from Univ. of Electronic Communications in 1989 and 1991. He received his Ph.D. in Systems and Information Engineering from Hokkaido University in 1997.
