Development of novel biotechnology for build a sustainable society
At present, wastewater and wastes generated from common manufacturing processes are not effectively utilized, and most of the wastes and wastewater are treated by incineration, landfill, and land application, which cause several global issues (e.g. ground and water pollution, global warming, and depletion of natural resources). To date, we have analyzed several microbial ecologies and functions in microbial wastewater treatment systems and agricultural systems. Using our core technologies, we are attempting to develop novel biotechnologies for sustainable recycling-based manufacturing processes.
- Elucidation of ecology and function of uncultivated microorganisms in aquatic and soil environments
- Elucidation of microbial mechanisms relevant to agriculture
- Exploration of microbial and genetic resources from aquatic and soil environments
- Development of wastewater treatment system and agricultural technology for resolution of glocal issues
