Three-dimensional pseudocolored images, representing
the pattern of neural activity propagation following
electrical stimulation of the olfactory nerve in the in vitro
isolated whole-brain preparation. The neural activity was
measured in terms of fractional changes in fluorescence
of a valtage-sensitive dye. Olfactory nerve stimulation
activates the amygdaloid cortex through the piriform
cortex and reactivates it via a second pathway with
reverberating activity from the entorhinal cortex.
