Oh my!, Five years have past. I'm still working in AIST on SWCNT research. Separation of SWCNT is now highly improved. We can get single chirality SWCNT almost automatic HPLC system. It is so easy. I will be back here more frequently.

Autumn has come. Terribly hot Summer was over. We had well controlled our energy consumption in this summer. We never met power failure, although some nuclear power plants were shutdown. Now we are free from energy saving problem in Autumn and can accelerate our research activity. Now everything is OK.

Over one month has passed after the big earthquake in Tohoku-Kanto area in Japan. In Tsukuba, our institute had damaged highly in some part. However, fortunately, our lab has almost no damage by the earthquake. Basically we can restart our research quickly. Only one problem is water drain system in AIST buildings. Because of this problem, we cannot use gas lasers.
TEPCO has corrected power supply plan of this summer. The situation is not so serious, if they succeed cooling down the nuclear power plants. Now the radiation level in Tsukuba is normal. All foods and water are safe. This is good opportunity to develop energy saving system in research fields and in home. These technologies will be useful any place in the world in near future.
By the way, we are developing new Raman system for evaluation of SWCNTs. It makes simple the evaluation process of purity and the other parameters of SWCNT sample.

I would like to start my diary for the foreign guest of my page. This is not daily. When I want to write something in English, I will do that.
On the last Friday, I attended very small meeting held in Tokyo, Oshanomizu. The meeting was organized by Prof. Saito from Tohoku univ. This meeting is held 2 or 3 times per year or more. I'm a member of this meeting but I don't attend frequentry. However, at this time, we have special guests from USA and Mexico, Prof. M.S. Dresselhaus and Prof. M. Terrones, respectively. Then Idecided to attend meeting. Unfortunately, I could not get up early and I missed a special talk by Prof. Terrones, but I discussed freely to them and other participants about SWCNTs and graphene. The total number of participants are around 20. This si very small meeting and then was very exciting. I was really surprised that Prof. Dresselhaus is still very powerfull. Actually, I don't know her age although Wikipedia said she is 80.
