Nouméa, South Province, Nouvelle-Calédonie

The capital city Noumea is located on a peninsula in the south of New Caledonia's main island, Grande Terre.  This light brownish gray sand/gravel is very coarse and poorly sorted (0.5-5.0mm).  It consists of coral mainly, then seashells, the remains of foraminifers, and small amounts of siliceous rocks, quartz and volcanic rocks.
