Ventura, California, USA

This light grayish brown sand was picked up at a city located about 100km northwest of Los Angels.  It is coarse sand (less than 2.0mm in diameter) and moderately sorted.  It consists of quartz, siliceous rocks, sandstone, feldspar and so on.  The grains are sub-angular, and some of them are stained yellow or brown.
