Rhode Island Beach, The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, USA

Rhode Island is the smallest state in the United States by area.  This light brown sand is coarse and poorly sorted (less than 2.5mm in diameter).  It consists of quartz with small amount of siliceous rocks.  There are many grains staind yellow or brown.  The small grains are sub-angular.
