Pantai Pasir Hitam, Langkawi Island, Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia
This sand was picked up at a famous beach for black sand. It is well sorted (1.5mm or less in diameter). It consists of black tourmaline with smaller amounts of quartz, feldspar, magnetite, cassiterite and so on. Langkawi means eagle (Lang) and marble (kawi), but we have no grain of marble here.
