Rakaia River, Rakaia, Canterbury, New Zealand

This greenish gray sand was picked up at a river running through the middle of the South Island.  It is fine/medium-sized (0.5mm or less in diameter) and moderately sorted.  It consists of black sandstone, shale, quartz, feldspar, crystalline schist and so on.
