Hamoa Beach, Maui, Hawaii, USA

Author James Michener says "The only beach I've ever seen that looks like the South Pacific was in the North Pacific." in his book "The most beautiful beach in the Pacific".  It is gray coarse sand, the grains are 0.3-1.0mm in diameter, and moderately sorted.  It consists of black basalt, white fragments of seashells and coral.
