Koki Beach, Hana, Maui, Hawaii, USA

This dark red sand/gravel are poorly sorted, the grains are 4.5mm or less in diameter.  It consists of reddish brown basalt and black basalt with a few fragments of coral and the remains of foraminifers.  Some grains of black basalt are silicate.
