World Sands Collection
Lake Superior, Bayfield, Wisconsin, USA
Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world.  This sand was picked up at southeast part of the lake.  It is pale brown medium/coarse sand, and the grains are 0.3-2.0mm in diameter.  It consists of mostly quartz.  There are a few fragments of brown rocks or siliceous rocks.  Most of the grains are well-rounded.
