The upper Daiya River, Inarimachi, Nikko, Tochigi, Japan

This is river sand beside Nikko Station of Tobu Nikko Line.  It is purplish gray sand/gravel (4.5mm or less in diameter).  The grains are mostly vesiculate andesite of purplish gray, black and brown, and you can find some deteriorated volcanic rocks of Neogene.
