Barrow, Alaska, USA

Barrow that is northernmost of the Continent is facing Chukchi Sea.  This coarse sand was found in front of Top of the World Hotel using hot water to thaw the ground.  The grains are 3mm or less in diameter and consists of fragments of quartz or siliceous rocks.  The large grains are well-rounded.
