Uenosawa, Oguni, Nisi-Okitama, Yamagata, Japan

This river sand was picked up at the place 7km above from Material No.1669, it is the lower of Kanayama siliceous rocks mine.  The grains are 4.5mm or less in diameter, poorly sorted and sub-angular.  It consists of fragments of granite, quartz and feldspar.  Though there are pieces of shale or sandstone in Material No.1669, there is no fragments of such kind of rocks in this sand.  The large pieces of quartz should be digged up at Kanayama Mine.
