Hilo (2), Hawaii Island, Hawaii, USA

This sand was picked up at a beach near the mouth of a river beside Hiro Hawaiian Hotel.  This sand/gravel 3.5mm or less in diameter mostly consists of black basalt mixed with 5-10% of the organic remains such as white seashells.  The grains are rounded very well.
