Amed is a small fishing village that is east of the famous active volcano G.Agung (3142m).  The donor took the sand because she was impressed with its darkness.  95% of the grains are small round iron that must be selected from the volcanic ash by the waves.  There are some grains of yellow green olivine and the remains of foraminifers.
