With Toyota Central R&D Labs., Inc. [President and Chief Operating Officer, ISHIKAWA Norikatsu], MAZDA Motor Corporation[President and Chief Operating Officer, IMAKI Hisakazu], Nissan Motor CO., Ltd.[The president and chief executive officer, Carlos Ghosn], Yokogawa Electric Corporation[President and Chief Executive Officer, UCHIDA Isao] and others, measured operation action of many common drivers on the street, and developed the automobile operation action database jointly. Moreover, when different operation action from usually was carried out by grasping operation action objective using this database, the prototype of the operation support system of the model which puts that danger increases on the car which tells a driver was developed. This research result is a part of last result of the consignment enterprise Industrial technical base research and development project "human action conformity type living environment creation system technology" undertaken in the plan from Heisei 11 for five years of New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization[Chairman of the board of directors, MAKINO Tsutomu](It is called "NEDO" below.).

■ The background and circumstances of research ■
[Safe driving support system]

  Although research and development of various collision alarm systems are furthered in ITS as a safe driving support system, these are direct equipment for accident evasion and reduction of taking out an alarm just before a collision. Such an alarm system operates by the collision last minute, so effect is different by the relation between the urgent evasion capability of a driver, the performance of vehicles, etc. Then, this research and development aimed at development of the system which prevents that a driver is put on the high situation of a risk by telling a driver in advance whether it is in the state where the risk whose driver is operation is increasing instead of just before a collision. That is, it is a safe driving support system based on a new view of having you operate so that it may prevent that it will be in the state where the risk of the accident increases, by telling deviation from usual to a driver. ACC (distance-between-two-cars automatic controller) and collision mitigation equipment (pre-crush equipment) which have so far been developed were an operation support system under the comparatively simple situation of having called it the collision to the flattery and the impending obstacle to a precedence vehicle. On the other hand, this system is an operation support system under the situation of operation which man is usually performing.

The detection technology of deviation from usual of operation action was developed using the slowdown stop action data of the common driver accumulated at the database paying attention to the slowdown stop action (by road non-giving priority) in a stop crossing paying attention to the operation action in connection with the accident of the collision which is one of most of the accident forms. By using much data of a slowdown stop, it has grasped how it is usually acting from the remaining distance and speed to a crossing, or acceleration, and these correlation in the usual operation was usually made into the model of operation. And with reference to this, in an actual run scene, which has shifted from this model to the danger side, or it shows a driver as a degree of deviation from usual. It consists of the handle for detecting operation action, the sensor of a pedal, a computer by which the model of operation was usually incorporated, and presentation equipment (display) of the degree of deviation to a driver as composition of equipment. By computer put on the car, comparison calculation of the model of the operation action in the time and usually operation is carried out, and it judges whether compared with the model, it has separated in the danger side. Moreover, attention may not be attracted too much like the conventional alarm as a method of showing a driver, and the display which goes into an eye as information troublesomely also during operation was developed based on analysis of man's vision characteristic. It becomes possible to prevent being able to know how much he has deviated from usual operation action during operation, and lapsing into a beforehand dangerous state by this.
